How to Use James Deals

A quick tour of features and what everything means.

What this site does

James Deals tracks current Amazon prices for LEGO, tools, and other curated categories. Prices refresh hourly. The site is free to use — supported by Amazon affiliate links (we earn a small commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you). All prices are from US Amazon (amazon.com).

Getting started

  1. From the landing page, pick a category (like LEGO).
  2. Browse the cards. Each card represents a product or product line.
  3. Use the Filters button and the Sort dropdown to narrow things down.
  4. Click View on Amazon on any item to open its Amazon page.

Filters

Filters are tucked behind the Filters button in the top bar. The button glows blue when any filter is active. Filters update the list instantly — no page reload.

LEGO
  • Theme: Star Wars, Technic, City, Harry Potter, etc. (multi-select)
  • Brand: Filter by manufacturer (LEGO, etc.)
  • Price: Min/max price filter

Grouped vs Individual view

Two view modes available via the toggle buttons in the top bar:

⊞ Grouped view

All packaging / variants of the same product line appear as one card.

Best for: "I want to see this LEGO set — show me all packaging and price options."

≡ Individual view

Every variant gets its own card. Sort by price to see best deals across all products and brands.

Best for: "Show me the cheapest LEGO sets, period."

Badges explained

Badges next to a variant call out price events worth noticing:

BadgeWhat it means
Amazon "Limited time deal" — Amazon's official deal flag. We only show curated Amazon deals, not seller-claimed "% off" discounts (those are often inflated against artificial MSRPs).
Deal Card-level deal flag — shown in the group header when at least one variant in the group has an Amazon deal badge.

Per-product actions

Every variant row has a row of small buttons on the right:

ButtonWhat it does
View on Amazon Opens this exact variant's Amazon product page (in a new tab, with our affiliate tag).
Save to favorites. Click to save this variant; the heart turns solid red ♥ to confirm. Click again to remove. Favorites are stored in your browser and accessible from the Favorites page.
Share this product. Copies a direct link to this specific variant to your clipboard.
🚩 Report issue with this variant (wrong price, wrong info, out of stock, etc).

In Grouped view, the group header also has a share button (copies a link to the whole group) and 🔧 (report an issue with the whole product line).

Sorting

Use the sort dropdown in the top bar to reorder results:

  • Cheapest price — default sort. Lowest sticker price first.
  • Price per piece — (LEGO only) ranks sets by the lowest price per piece.
  • Most popular — ranked by how often the View on Amazon button has been clicked.
  • Newest — showing the most recently added items first.
  • Most savings — sorted by highest percentage discount off list price.

Favorites

Save any product by clicking the ♥ heart button on its variant row — it sits between the View on Amazon button and the share icon. The heart turns solid red ♥ when saved. Click it again to remove.

To view all your saved items across every category, click ♥ Favorites on the landing page, or click the ♥ Favorites toggle button at the top of any deals page to filter to favorites for that category.

Favorites are stored only in your browser's local storage — no account required and no personal data is sent to our servers. When you save or remove a favorite, an anonymous event (ASIN + timestamp) is recorded so we can understand which products are popular. Your identity is never stored. Favorites will be cleared if you clear your browser data and are not shared across devices.

Reporting bad data

If something looks wrong — wrong price, wrong product, etc. — please flag it:

  • 🚩 on a variant row — reports a problem with that one ASIN. (An ASIN is Amazon's unique 10-character product ID — e.g. B0FLJY33L2.)
  • 🔧 on a group header — reports a problem affecting the whole product line.

Both open a quick form. We review reports regularly and update the data.

Dark mode

Click the moon icon in the top-right of the navbar to switch to dark mode. Click the sun icon to switch back to light mode. Your preference is remembered in your browser — it persists across pages and visits.
